Just for fun I tested 3 different ways to setup TOF ads recently. Brand new ad account, brand new campaign, zero learning in the account. All 3 setups used the same broad audience, same manual placements of ads, same daily budget, same 3 text, headlines and images. All optimised for purchase.
I tested:
- Using ads setup with 3 different ads – image 1, 2 and 3 but adding the same 3 copy and 3 headlines but with Dynamic Creative and Advantage3 campaign budget OFF
- Ads setup with 1 ad using DC for the 3 images, 3 headlines and 3 copy options. Advantage3 campaign budget OFF
- Ads setup with 1 ad using DC for the 3 images, 3 headlines and 3 copy options. Advantage3 campaign budget ON
Conclusion: based on 7 days with total ad spend of only $351.80 setup 2 was turned off after 3 days. Setup 1 and 3 are running pretty close (top line metrics only). None have converted. Setup 1 has kept ads in the learning phase whereas 3 hasn’t. Also use of just images isn’t going to get decent results.
